An exciting opportunity has become available to join the Whai Rawa team at Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu.

Whai Rawa is a licensed managed investment scheme for medium-long term savings, focused on enabling Ngāi Tahu Whānui to save for their retirement, home ownership and/ or tertiary education. Set up by Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu in 2006, it now has near 23,000 members and $55m funds under management. The Whai Rawa scheme aims to improve the wellbeing of Ngāi Tahu whānau by:

  • encouraging savings for home ownership, education and retirement
  • being a 'best of class' savings vehicle
  • growing the financial capability of Ngāi Tahu whānau
  • providing a vehicle for Te Rūnanga to make distributions to Ngāi Tahu whānau for key savings milestones

The Savings Support Advisor is a new position with the primary focus of promoting the benefits of the Whai Rawa Fund and a positive savings culture to our Ngāi Tahu whānau.

The successful applicant will be passionate about our Whai Rawa programmes and will be proactive in understanding the various schemes and programmes and the benefits available for whānau. Your sound knowledge and enthusiasm will encourage and engage whānau in communications over the phone.

While off the phones you will administer and maintain member details in CRM, accuracy of details will be important in this highly regulated industry. This is a great opportunity to build on your administration and customer service skills.

Key attributes of the successful applicant:-

  • Previous call centre - outbound calls experience
  • Dedicated to providing excellent customer service
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Well-developed computer skills
  • Passion and commitment for quality in everything you do
  • Demonstrates a strong affinity with Ngāi Tahu values and aspirations 

You will have a genuine desire to learn new skills and the ability to communicate effectively in a supportive team environment. Working directly with Ngāi Tahu whānau it is important that the candidate has an understanding of and is driven by the values and aspirations of the Iwi. Ideally the successful candidate will be competent in te reo Māori or have good pronunciation and a willingness to learn.
