AWHI (Auckland Wide Housing Initiative) is a healthy housing programme run by the National Hauora Coalition. AWHI provides services to coordinate interventions for eligible families in South Auckland that will reduce household crowding (functional and structural) and make the home warmer, drier and healthier. This is an exciting, developing programme looking at complex issues facing whānau; there is an opportunity to make a real difference for children and their whānau.

The Programme Leader will (with support from the Group Manager - Outcome Initiatives) ensure the AWHI programme delivers on its performance objectives and exceeds organisational and funder expectations. The Programme Leader will manage a small operational team to ensure that the AWHI hub functions effectively and efficiently while also ensuring that the provider network delivering AWHI case management services is operating well. You will be well supported by an experienced team with opportunities for growth, development and career progression.

The role is critical in ensuring both the quality and efficiency of the AWHI hub and the overall programme and contribute to meaningful outcomes for whānau. There are huge opportunities for the right person to make a real difference; this is an emerging, constantly developing area and would suit someone who is innovative and highly motivated.

As Programme Leader, you will need the following skills and experience:

  • Experience in management of health and/or community service provision.
  • Experience managing staff toward achievement of performance expectations.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and make decisions within delegated authority.
  • Effective communication and strong relationship management skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft and other software tools that assist operational processes.
  • An understanding of the importance of continuous quality improvement and how to support improvement both internally and externally
