Consultation on Design Guide for Fire Safety: Residential Community Housing

MBIE is seeking feedback on a proposed Design Guide for Fire Safety: Residential Community Housing. The consultation will run until 11 September 2017.


The proposed Design Guide was developed following stakeholder feedback on the 2012 edition of revised Acceptable Solution C/AS1-7. MBIE has received input from Community Housing Aotearoa, NZ Disability Support Network, Disabled Persons Assembly, Housing NZ, Ministry of Heath, Accessible Properties, the New Zealand Fire Service and building control officials to develop the proposed Design Guide.

  • your name
  • your organisation’s name (if you are submitting on behalf of an organisation)
  • your address (eg phone, email, etc)

The following points may help in you preparing a submission:

  • comment, wherever possible, on a specific section of the document
  • supply reasons and if possible information or data to support comments
  • examples to help us to understand your point
  • use good quality font, or make sure comments are clearly handwritten in black or blue ink.

Your submission may be made public

MBIE intends to post a report on submissions at, except for material that may be defamatory. MBIE will not publish the content of your submission on the internet if you state that you object to its publication when you provide it. However, your submission will remain subject to the Official Information Act 1982 and therefore may be released in part or full.

The Privacy Act 1993 also applies to your submission. This means any personal information you supply to MBIE in the course of making your submission will be used by MBIE only in conjunction with matters covered by this document.
