Comcare assists people with mental health or addiction issues to live well in the Canterbury community. We provide a rich and diverse range of Community Housing and Mental Health Support Services to the local community. Comcare is a specialist registered Community Housing Provider (CHP) through the Community Housing Regulatory Authority, which is part of the New Zealand Government's Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE).
We have recently secured contracts with MSD to provide a number of emergency housing placements for people in Christchurch and are seeking a Transition Coordinator to join our Emergency Housing team, which will manage all aspects of those contracts as part of our Community Housing division.
This is a great opportunity for a motivated professional to join our Emergency Housing team. This service provides emergency housing services to tenants who are experiencing homelessness. We are looking for an eager team member who has a solid background in supporting complex need tenants, is passionate about achieving housing stability and connecting tenants to support networks in the community.
Transition Coordinators are responsible for facilitating the transition of our clients through a temporary housing placement into permanent housing, including assessment of health and welfare issues that are impacting on their future, tenancy sustainability and general wellbeing. They also provide direct support and service coordination to meet our client needs.
We are looking for someone who is positive, flexible, confident and passionate about working in our service. You will have experience of working with people who have complex needs. You need to be resilient, a great problem solver, able to think on your feet and an ability to communicate effectively. You will also have an aptitude for working under pressure with attention to detail. Previous experience of an emergency housing environment would be desirable, as well as, previous experience of working with internal and external stakeholders to achieve service objectives.
