Land Navigation Programme: He Waka Tauihu e Pareparea Ana - Whangarei
A new programme in Te Tai Tokerau to assist whānau to navigate and understand Māori land processes with a view to position themselves for improved engagement and utilisation of their whenua Māori.

Delivery Method
A 36-week programme delivered via three 12-week blocks - progressing from Level 1 (first 12-week block) to Level 3 (Last 12-week block). Delivery methods are kaupapa Māori based and whānau will be expected to attend:
- Whakawhanaungatanga Day (10am OR 6pm, 7 November 2017, Door of Hope
Fellowship, 102 Tarewa Rd, Morningside, Whangarei, Cnr of Otaika and Tarewa Rd) - One noho marae per month
- One on one - individual learning plans
- Weekly tutorials and haerenga
Outcomes
- Whānau Māori Land Management Plans based on whānau aspirations for their whenua with planned steps to utilise their whenua
- Increase knowledge for navigating Māori land court processes
- Whānau initiate and begin land search to compile land database
- Whānau become familiar with Court records and historical research
- Whānau introduced to whakapapa contained in Māori land court records
- Walking, seeing their whenua and comparing to survey plans, identifying possible land use options i.e. papakāinga, mara kai, puna wai, commercial, industry, land development, etc.
